The Lithuanian government approved the introduction of a state of emergency in areas bordering Belarus due to migrants. About it informs Lithuanian National Television and Radio.

According to the Minister of Internal Affairs of the country Agne Bilotaite, the decision was made due to the situation with unrest on the border of Poland and Belarus. The head of the department believes that something like this can start on the Lithuanian-Belarusian border.

It is expected that the state of emergency will be introduced for a period of one month within 5 km from the border, as well as in the places where illegal migrants are accommodated in Kybartai, Medininkai, Pabrada, Rukla and Vilnius.

The decision will come into force when approved by the parliament.

On the eve of Belarus, a large group of refugees was noticed near the highway leading to the border with Poland. Later they tried break the barbed wire fence and enter the EU.

A meeting of the crisis headquarters was held in Warsaw with the participation of the Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense in connection with the events on the Polish-Belarusian border. Advisor to the leader of the Belarusian opposition Svetlana Tikhanovskaya Franak Vyachorka told The Insider on what countermeasures the Polish and EU authorities are discussing and why Lukashenka is escalating the migration crisis.
