Eight people were killed, several were injured at the Astroworld Festival in Texas, informs local Houston Chronicle citing police. There was a crush at the event. As the newspaper notes, 50 thousand people came to the two-day festival.
The crush happened during a performance by rapper Travis Scott. People began to move closer to the stage, some of the audience lost their balance and fell under the feet of the crowd, which increased the panic. The show was stopped as soon as the organizers saw what was happening.
According to local authorities, 17 people were sent to the hospital, 11 of them with heart attacks.
Even before the festival began, visitors stormed the gates and passed the guards and metal detectors. As a result, several people were detained. Eyewitnesses wrote that several people were also injured.
