Most of the power units at thermal power plants have been shut down. The reason is the lack of coal. “We have 88 thermal power plants operating in Ukraine, which generate electricity, which is used to balance nuclear energy. – said the deputy. “Today, out of 88 power units, 37 are functioning, 51 are not functioning.”
Previously reportedthat on November 1, Russia will stop deliveries to Ukraine of thermal coal, which is used by the country for energy needs. Also, the Verkhovna Rada claims that Russia has blocked the supply of coal to Ukraine from Kazakhstan.
The Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation reported that the stoppage of supplies is associated with growing domestic demand in the autumn-winter period.
On August 30, Ukrenergo announced a critical situation with coal reserves at Ukrainian thermal power plants. On October 23, the media reported that the Slavyanskaya thermal power plant, located in the Donetsk region of Ukraine, stopped working due to a lack of coal.
On October 29, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reported that none of the state-owned thermal power plants had the necessary coal reserves. According to the ministry, only the most necessary equipment has been operating at all state-owned thermal power plants for the last two months.
