The son of the general director of the Pskov State Museum-Reserve was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison for cashing out 30 million rubles

The Oktyabrsky District Court of Vladimir sentenced businessman Pyotr Melnikov – the son of the general director of the Pskov State Museum-Reserve Svetlana Melnikova – to 2.5 years in a general regime colony and a fine of 250 thousand rubles. About it writes “Pskov province”.

The convict was found guilty of making and selling forged payment documents. The court found that in the period from January to March 2011, Melnikov, together with an accomplice, being on the territory of Vladimir and acting by a group of persons in a preliminary conspiracy, “made payment orders that were not securities for the purpose of marketing and sold to credit institutions”.

“As a result of illegal financial transactions, they cashed out funds in the amount of 30 million rubles,” the press service of the prosecutor’s office of the Vladimir region said.

Subsequently, Pyotr Melnikov disappeared from law enforcement agencies. Since July 2018, he has been on the international wanted list. At the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation, in July 2020, Melnikov was extradited from Lithuania. Moreover, his accomplice is still on the international wanted list.

By data the publication “Vladimirskie vedomosti”, on January 25, 2021, the Frunzensky District Court of Vladimir issued a new verdict on Peter’s father. For deliberate bankruptcy and embezzlement, the director of the Vladimir plant Avtopribor, Alexei Melnikov, was sentenced to eight years in a general regime colony and a fine of 800,000 rubles.
