The sister of politician Galina Starovoitova, public figure Olga Starovoitova, died in St. Petersburg. About it reported Deputy of the Legislative Assembly Boris Vishnevsky.

Olga Starovoitova was born in 1948 in Leningrad, she is two years younger than her sister. She was a member of the International Union of Journalists, a religious scholar. In the last years of her life she headed the public fund “Museum of Galina Starovoitova”.

Galina Starovoitova, co-chairman of the Democratic Russia party and State Duma deputy, was shot dead at the entrance of her house in St. Petersburg on November 20, 1998. For organizing this crime in June 2005, Yuri Kolchin was convicted, he was sentenced to 20 years in prison. Vitaly Akishin was sentenced to 23.5 years for the crime. For complicity in organizing the murder of Starovoitova in August 2015, Mikhail Glushchenko, a former State Duma deputy and one of the leaders of the Tambov organized criminal group, was sentenced to 17 years in a maximum security colony. During interrogation, he named the organizer of the crime, the leader of the Tambovskaya organized criminal group, Vladimir Barsukov (formerly Kumarin). The person who ordered the murder has not yet been established.
