Russian citizen Yulia Ilyinskaya, who lives in Israel, was able to vote twice in the elections to the State Duma. About this she reported on Facebook. Earlier, Russian authorities arrested Ilyinskaya in absentia after she voted three times on amendments to the Constitution.
“I managed to vote more than once again. The stop-take system, designed to prevent the possibility of voting at the same time at a polling station and electronically, does not work abroad, ”wrote the Russian woman.
She suggested that the data of the Russian passport is entered into the system (according to “State Services”), and abroad, Russians can vote on foreign passports.
In the summer of 2020, Yulia Ilyinskaya said that while in Israel, she was able to vote three times on amendments to the Constitution. Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened a criminal case against her on illegal receipt of a voting ballot. After that Ilyinskaya, according to her, arrested in absentia in Russia and put on the international wanted list. Later, the court overturned the arrest order, reported RBC.
In Russia, for voting more than once, a fine of up to 30 thousand rubles is provided. For voting more than two times, criminal liability is threatened – up to four years in prison.
In 2020, journalist Pavel Lobkov managed to vote on the amendments to the Constitution twice. The possibility to vote twice was also reported by the expert of the Golos movement Vasily Weissenberg. After that Lobkov and Weissenberg gave explanations to the police, writes “Medusa”.
