Deputies of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg from “United Russia” petitioned for parole for ex-State Duma deputy Mikhail Glushchenko, the organizer of the murder of Galina Starovoitova. About it writes Fontanka.
The petition was sent to the Dzerzhinsky District Court of St. Petersburg by the deputies Lyubov Yegorova and Yuri Avdeev. Both are former athletes, like Glushchenko.
Vladimir Taymazov, a member of the presidential council for the development of physical education and sports and former rector of Lesgaft University, also applied for parole.
“By his example, he gave a start to many future champions, had a huge impact on the development of children and youth sports, and repeatedly acted as a patron of the arts,” the petition says.
Glushchenko’s defense filed documents for consideration of the application for parole in mid-August, explaining that the ex-deputy had served two-thirds of the term.
Galina Starovoitova, co-chair of the Democratic Russia party, was shot dead at the entrance of her house in St. Petersburg on November 20, 1998. The customer was named former GRU warrant officer Yuri Kolchin, who was sentenced to 20 years in prison. Already in the colony, Kolchin pointed to the former State Duma deputy from the Liberal Democratic Party Mikhail Glushchenko, a member of the Tambovskaya organized criminal group. In March 2015, Glushchenko confessed and made a deal with the investigation, testifying against the customers of the crime.
