The prosecutor’s office in St. Petersburg requested 15 years in prison with a fine of 2 million rubles for two officers of the Russian Guard – Nikita Lavrentiev and Alexander Boykov – in the case of beating a 16-year-old teenager, informs “Zone of law”.
The prosecution demands that the security forces serve time in a strict regime colony. They are accused of abuse of office with the use of violence (parts 1 and 3 of article 286 of the Criminal Code), possession of drugs (part 2 of article 228 of the Criminal Code) and bribery (part 5 of article 290 of the Criminal Code).
According to consequences, in July 2019, employees of the National Guard’s non-departmental security department detained a 16-year-old teenager on the street, staging a seizure of drugs from him. After that, the young man was kept in an official car for several hours and beaten, demanding a bribe – 300 thousand rubles for “not being prosecuted” for allegedly possessing prohibited substances that the security forces planted on him.
Under pressure from law enforcement officers, the teenager agreed to the deal, withdrew 140 thousand rubles from an ATM and handed them over to the National Guards. At the same time, the young man called 112 and talk about what happened. The case file states that earlier Lavrentyev and Boykov had already extorted 50 thousand rubles from a man whom they also planted drugs on.
Last October UK aroused a criminal case against police officers, whom the son of the editor-in-chief of the Cosmopolitan magazine Ekaterina Velikina accused of robbery worth 8,000 rubles. The security forces took away the money intended for the tutor from the student as “some kind of fine.” The young man was detained near the Shabolovskaya metro station in Moscow, searched and “pressed for 10 minutes”, threatening to register him and find “anything”.
