Several Capitol police officers have sued former US President Donald Trump and some of his aides and radical group leaders over the January storming of the Capitol. About it informs Axios with reference to the statement of claim.
Officers view the Capitol riots as an attack that was instigated and supported by Trump, his entourage and radicals sympathetic to him to prevent Congress from approving the outcome of the presidential election, which was won by Joe Biden. According to them, due to the illegal actions of the defendants, they were brutally attacked, spat on, sprayed with tear gas and spray to scare off bears, and also subjected them to insults and made them fear for their lives. At the same time, the injuries of the plaintiffs caused by the defendants persist to this day.
As stated in the statement of claim, Trump sent his supporters to the Capitol, and also did not call on them to stop the riots, although he knew about the danger threatening people.
Capitol police officers are demanding compensation, the amount of which is proposed to be determined by the court.
It is noted that this is not the first lawsuit against Trump by Capitol police officers. Earlier, two officers demanded a total of $ 150,000 from the former president for what, in their opinion, by his behavior provoked the storming of the Capitol.
Recall that at least 850 officers of the Capitol Police and the Washington Police Department took part in suppressing the riots. About 140 of them were injured. One of the police officers who participated in the suppression of the riots died the day after the assault. At least four more committed suicide.
