Thailand allowed tourists vaccinated with the Russian Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine to enter Phuket Island without going through quarantine. About it informs TASS with reference to Russian Consul General in Thailand Vladimir Sosnov.
Prior to this, certain tourist areas in Thailand (the so-called “sandboxes” in Phuket and Koh Samui) could only be visited by those vaccinated with vaccines approved by the World Health Organization (WHO). Domestic “Sputnik” is not among them, we are talking about the drugs of the companies Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Sinopharm.
Since July 1, the Thai authorities have opened Phuket for those vaccinated against COVID-19 under the Phuket Sandbox program. Tourists, including Russians, had to spend a 14-day quarantine on the island after arrival, after which they could travel. On August 16, the period of mandatory quarantine was reduced to seven days.
