The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of Russia fined Booking.com 1.3 billion rubles for abuse of a dominant position in the market, informs press service of the department.
Claims against the Dutch power company presented back at the end of last year. Then the FAS accused the service of imposing unfavorable terms of contracts on Russian hotels, according to which they are obliged to comply with the parity of prices, availability of rooms and conditions in all sales channels.
As explained in the department, under the conditions of Booking, hotels cannot set prices for their services in other sales channels higher or, conversely, lower than on the service website. A complaint to Booking.com was filed by the public organization Opora Rossii.
The service itself occupies a leading position in the Russian market – it accounts for about 70% of all bookings. In Rosturizm in July this year reported on plans to launch a Russian analogue of Booking.com – a national service for booking services. It is expected to start working at the end of 2024.
