Presnensky District Court of Moscow fined two activists of SotsFem Alternative – Ksenia Bezdenezhnykh and Anna Pavlova for 200 thousand rubles, reported in the Telegram channel of the movement.

The girls and several other activists were detained on 23 August. They spent a rally in front of the Afghan embassy in support of women in the country, oppressed by the Taliban. For four people made up protocols under Part 5 of Art. 20.2 of the Administrative Code (participation in an uncoordinated picket) and released.

The penniless and Pavlova were left in the police department until the trial. The girls were charged with a repeated violation of the rules for conducting an unauthorized action (part 8 of article 20.2 of the Administrative Code). This article provides for up to 15 days of arrest.

Taliban fighters after seizing power in Afghanistan statedthat will allow women to lead an active lifestyle, but in compliance with the strict rules of Sharia. During the first rule of the Taliban in 1996-2001, the rights of women in the country were limited: they were obliged to wear a burqa, they were forbidden to work and leave their homes without men. Earlier on August 25, the Taliban had already banned women to leave the house until “the system for ensuring their safety is established.”
