German intelligence services detained a British citizen on suspicion of working for Russian intelligence. About it informs The General Prosecutor’s Office of the Federal Republic of Germany.
British national David S. is arrested in Potsdam by the Federal Criminal Police Department, who were charged with the investigation. Searches were carried out at his home and at work.
“David S. worked at the British Embassy in Berlin and at least once sent documents obtained in the course of his professional activities to a representative of Russian intelligence. In exchange for providing information, the defendants received cash in an unspecified amount, ”the investigation said.
The crime took place no later than November 2020. The arrest was the result of a joint investigation by the German and British authorities.
The accused will now be taken to the Federal Court, where the issue of detention will be considered.
