On the same day, Djokovic, who is the first racket in the world, lost the match for bronze in singles. Thus, Djokovic, who arrived at the Olympics as one of the favorites of the tennis tournament, leaves Tokyo without medals.
This is the twelfth gold medal at the Olympics for Russian athletes. They are ranked 5th in the medal standings.
Russian athletes at these Games do not compete under the flag of the country, but under the flag of the Russian Olympic Committee, since the Russian Federation has been barred from participating in the Olympic Games until December 2022 due to manipulation of doping samples by the Moscow Anti-Doping Laboratory.
