A court in Minsk sentenced 11 participants in opposition Telegram chats to real terms, writes human rights center “Vesna”.

Three people – Artem Kosakovsky, Dmitry Lastovsky and Dmitry Zheburtovich were found guilty under Part 1 of Art. 13 and part 2 of Art. 293 of the Criminal Code (preparation for participation in riots) and sentenced to five years in a strict regime colony.
Eight years in a penal colony under Part 1 of Art. 13 and part 2 of Art. 293 (preparation for participation in riots), as well as under Part 1 of Art. 13 and part 3 of Art. 218 (preparation for the deliberate destruction or damage of property by an organized group) was received by Pavel Nedbailo, Rostislav Stefanovich, Evgeny Propolsky, Alexander Reznik, Sergey Plonis, Artem Mitsuk and Alexander Yurchik.
Another person involved in the case, Yuri Belko, was sentenced to nine years in a maximum security colony. In addition to the articles applied to other convicts, he was found guilty under Part 2 of Art. 295 (illegal actions against firearms, ammunition and explosives).
According to the prosecutor, all convicts consisted of “In oppositional and protest communities, they expressed their readiness for open resistance, including armed resistance, with representatives of law enforcement agencies”.
Five defendants in the case, according to Vesna, were detained on September 29 at 22:30 near the Uruchye metro station, where they agreed to meet, the rest – a little later. According to the investigation, it was on this evening that members of the Telegram community were going to set fire to three kiosks of the Tabakerka network.
Later, the detainees repeatedly complained of torture and beatings by the security forces. One of the convicts, Dmitry Lastovsky, claimed that he was forced to write a confession by holding a gun to his head.
The accused David Slashchev, the only one who managed to leave Belarus, reported that the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Belarus Nikolai Karpenkov, who at that time was the head of the GUBOPiK, personally forced the detainees to shoot a “penitential video on camera” their activities ”. Those who refused to do so were severely beaten.
“When they detained us and pushed us into the paddy wagon, they said that we would all“ go ”for 16 years and began to“ knock out testimonies ”. They beat me on the head with their feet, truncheons and hands. They just stomped everywhere. When they were brought to the Pervomaisky District Department of Internal Affairs, they were also beaten in the offices.
