The eleventh day of the trial of Alexei Navalny has passed, he is going to be imprisoned for 15 years on a trumped-up case.
The defense side continued to play today. In the morning in the courtroom, that is, in the assembly hall of the correctional colony, a linguist, candidate of philological sciences Yulia Safonova was interrogated. Since we are talking about a criminal case about insulting a judge, the meeting examined the degree of insult and insult of Navalny’s words. Malicious intent and tone of vocabulary in relation to the court were assessed.
In particular, Navalny’s word “to go nuts” was analyzed – it is also in the case file. The philologist and linguist officially stated that this word is normal, not offensive and not a euphemism for some other swear word. As Navalny commented in court, “awesome!”.
After the linguist’s speech, the court began watching the FBK investigation on the big screen. They were brought into the case by the prosecution. According to them, these are not just YouTube videos, but physical evidence – with their help, Navalny misled a poor, gullible pensioner who donated money to him. In any case, watching the films of the Anti-Corruption Foundation is not only useful, but also pleasant. Not the worst way to spend time in court. Well, it is impossible not to note that the materials of these investigations were finally shown in court.
Unfortunately, not all videos were given to watch in full. For example, a video about corruption in Tatarstan was cut off at the 17th minute. But the film “He is not Dimon to you” was shown in full. And already towards the end of the meeting, Navalny was given the opportunity to once again review excerpts from the film “The Palace for Putin.” Excellent selection.
Of course, in fact, the viewing was not organized in order to entertain Alexei or the bailiffs. And not even in order to arrange an educational program for the judge and the prosecutor on the topic of corruption. On the example of these videos, the defense side proved the inconsistency of the accusations of fraud. The accusation rests on the fact that Aleksey, due to a criminal record, did not have the right to participate in elections, which means that he could not raise money for the campaign. But the same film “He is not Dimon to you” was released even before any criminal record. And another film about Deripaska, Prikhodko and Nastya Rybka, which was also shown in court, was released after Navalny was not allowed to vote, that is, in it he obviously could not raise money for his campaign. All the evidence that the prosecution has attached to the case, in fact, does not prove absolutely anything.
The next stage of the trial is the interrogation of Alexei himself. Then there will be a debate of the parties, and then a verdict. Most likely, it will become known to us next week.
The last few days have proved that there is no logic, no common sense in Putin’s actions. He really wants to take revenge on Navalny and probably already ordered that he be given the maximum term. But we must not remain silent. Otherwise, this verdict will be passed on our behalf. Freedom for Alexei Navalny.
