At the time of the beating, the attackers shouted: “Get it for our people!”
The 49-year-old victim was hospitalized. He is in a satisfactory condition.
By data source of Ukrainska Pravda in the office of the Prosecutor General, the attack is connected with the activities of Adeishvili in Georgia.
Employees of the Kiev Pechersk Police Department are investigating.
Zurab Adeishvili is an adviser to the Prosecutor General Irina Venediktova on a voluntary basis. Before moving to Ukraine, he was twice the Minister of Justice, and also headed the General Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia. After President Mikheil Saakashvili’s party lost the 2012 parliamentary elections, he and his supporters, including Adeishvili, were forced to leave the country for fear of criminal prosecution.
In 2017, Adeishvili was found guilty of confiscating one of the wineries and sentenced in absentia by a Georgian court to two years in prison. In accordance with the amnesty law, the term was reduced by 1/4 – to 1.5 years in prison. Adeishvili was given a similar term in the case of depriving the Iberia TV channel of its broadcasting license.
Georgia applied for the extradition of Adeishvili, but the Ukrainian authorities refused. In 2021, the ex-minister was deprived of Georgian citizenship at his request. The reason for this was the receipt of Ukrainian citizenship by Adeishvili.
