“Terrorists for me are also Kalyapin and Milashina, who make money on the topic of the Chechen Republic and the Chechens, developing scripts and whispering texts and behavior into the ears of their characters. If there is a law and law enforcement agencies in Russia, then I appeal to them: detain these accomplices of terrorists. The evidence base is in the materials of journalistic investigations on independent channels,” Kadyrov said.
Vladimir Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov later declaredthat Kadyrov’s statements are his “personal opinion”.
On January 27, Human Rights Ombudsman in Chechnya Mansur Soltaev in his Instagram account demanded initiate a criminal case against the founder of the “Committee against Torture” Igor Kalyapin. In addition, the Chechen Ombudsman called for the removal of the human rights activist from the Human Rights Council under the President of Russia (HRC).
Soltaev addressed his demands to the Chairman of the HRC Valery Fadeev. The Ombudsman emphasizes that the Chechen authorities have evidence that Kalyapin financially patronizes people who support terrorists and extremists.
