The claim that the medical plane that took Navalny to Berlin had been ordered the day before the poisoning had not previously appeared in official statements. Apparently, this version was thrown in in September 2021 by John Helmer, an Australian living in Moscow, who published on Twitter an article he wrote jointly with the German journalist Liane Teuerkauf, where, in particular, it was said:
“… But the evidence shows that they [медицинской эвакуационной бригады] The mission began with orders to the aircraft and crew members as they were at Shannon Airport, Western Ireland on the morning of August 20, 2020. For the first time, these orders were issued the day before, on 19 August. This is the day before Navalny collapsed during a flight between Tomsk and Moscow, and then after an emergency diversion of the plane to Omsk, before he was taken to Omsk Emergency Hospital No. 1.”
Shortly thereafter, the pro-Kremlin online publication Politekspert published an article under the heading “Unidentified people sent a medical plane after Navalny even before Cinema for Peace’s request”, where says:
“The message of the German doctor Philip Jacoby confirms the version of a pre-planned provocation with the “poisoning” of Alexei Navalny, which Russian political scientists and experts put forward earlier.
In an interview with journalist Liana Toyerkauf, the doctor said that the crew of the ambulance that took Navalny to Berlin from Omsk was in Shannon, Ireland, on the night of August 19-20, 2020. From there, at 10:00 am, he was to fly to Nuremberg to participate in a “security briefing”, the content of which Jacobi was forbidden to say anything about. It was then, according to the journalist, that they found out where they really had to fly.
According to Liana Teuerkauf, the crew learned that their mission was leading to Russia before the Cinema for Peace Foundation filed a request to transport Navalny to the Charite clinic and arranged a flight.
Note that the statement that the flight to Russia was already scheduled for August 19 is not in the article. It is only said that the change in the direction of the flight – Omsk instead of Nuremberg – became known on the night of August 19-20. The plane carrying Navalny made an emergency landing in Omsk on August 20 at 8:20 am local time. The time difference between Omsk and Shannon in the summer is 5 hours, that is, in Shannon at that moment it was 3:20. That is, it was exactly the same night that Jacobi and Teuerkauf are talking about. And then, apparently, the interpreters, Helmer and Politekspert, have already joined in, trying not to notice the difference.
John Helmer, political scientist and journalist who worked as an adviser to Greek Prime Minister Andreas Papandreou and US President Jimmy Carter in the 1970s and 80s, was exposed former Soviet intelligence officer Yuri Shvets who moved to the United States as a recruited KGB agent under the undercover pseudonym Socrates. Helmer himself, however, denies this.
Navalny’s ally Leonid Volkov reacted to Lavrov’s statement on Twitter:
“Lavrov was so liar that he said today that the air ambulance for Navalny’s transportation was ordered “the day before the poisoning.” I ordered; I have documents, but what does Lavrov have, except for endless arrogance and confidence that everything will get away with it?
The documents Volkov is talking about have not yet been published.
