The body of a Kazakh archaeologist who disappeared on January 6 and allegedly witnessed the murder was found in the Almaty morgue.

Kazakhstani Nurlan Zhagiparov said that he found the body of his brother Yerlan in the corridor of the morgue in handcuffs, who was shot in the heart at point-blank range, transmits K-News.

The archaeologist was last seen on January 6 at about 7 pm. Relatives suggest that Yerlan could have witnessed the murder of the son of the rector of KazNU Zhanseit Tuymebaev and, perhaps, filmed something on a phone camera. Until now, relatives do not have accurate information about the circumstances of Yerlan’s death.

On January 10, it became known that the son of the rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University died in Almaty during the protests. The school said he was shot dead. Telegram channel Orda.kz with a link to its own sources informedthat the rector’s son was shot in the head while driving in a car along one of the central streets.

During the protests, Kazakh leader Kassym-Jomart Tokayev ordered the police and army to open fire without warning.

“The antiterrorist operation continues in our country. The police, the national guard and the army are carrying out large-scale and well-coordinated work to restore law and order in accordance with the constitution, Tokayev said in an address to the people of the country. “I have given an order to law enforcement agencies and the army to open fire to kill without warning,” Tokayev said. transmits TASS.

On January 14, it became known that a Russian woman died during protests in the city of Taraz, Zhambyl region of Kazakhstan. About it reported at the Russian embassy.

In the first days of 2022, protests began in Kazakhstan due to higher fuel prices. The rallies ended in clashes with the security forces, who used stun grenades and then military weapons. Against the backdrop of protests, during the suppression of which died hundreds of people.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office of Kazakhstan, 225 people died during the protests, including 19 security officials.
