The wife of Ukrainian citizen Oleksandr Marchenko, who was convicted last year in a case of espionage (Article 276 of the Criminal Code), said that he had stopped communicating. About it writes human rights project “The First Department”.
As Marchenko’s wife Ekaterina said, her husband has not been in contact for more than a month, he is being transferred from the Chelyabinsk pre-trial detention center to a colony in Ulan-Ude.
“They are trying to isolate him from society. They didn’t let me transfer the package to SIZO-1, they took me further along the stage. It seems that they are now trying to morally suppress Alexander and deprive him of any interaction and communication with loved ones, ”said Marchenko’s wife.
She also added that during the last transfer – to IK-14 in the Krasnodar Territory – her husband was illegally placed in a punishment cell and deprived of the opportunity to take life-saving medicines.
In April 2021, Marchenko was sentenced to ten years in prison. According to investigators, in May 2018, he received an order from Petro Khomenko, an employee of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine, to purchase spare parts for S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems in Russia and $163,000 for their purchase.
The FSB believes that “the secret items were supposed to be transferred to the Ukrainian special exporter of military equipment of the state company Ukroboronservis through an intermediary firm in Macedonia.”
