Lawyer Vladimir Voronin toldthat the father of Ivan Zhdanov – Yuri Pavlovich Zhdanov – is in remand prison-3 in the Nizhny Novgorod region in the village of Annenkovsky quarry.

“Yuri Pavlovich has already been released. And he was formally detained for violating the subscription. At the same time, he himself did not give a subscription and, in general, the verdict does not indicate how it should work. In general, the visit to the 83-year-old aunt was considered a violation of the subscription. Although humanly Yuri Pavlovich, who served nine months in a pre-trial detention center on a trumped-up charge, is understandable, ”said the lawyer.

We will remind, earlier the court found Yuri Zhdanov guilty of committing fraud and official forgery and assigned him three years probation with a probationary period of two years. Zhdanov was ordered to be released in the courtroom.

The state prosecution demanded that he be sentenced to three years in a colony.

Zhdanov, 66, was arrested on March 29 on charges of abuse of office. A criminal case was opened due to the fact that, being a member of the housing commission, he recommended the head of the Seekers settlement to allocate an apartment to a local resident under a social tenancy agreement. Later, the contract was terminated – it turned out that the family had already received a housing subsidy. The administration returned the apartment through court. Ivan Zhdanov noted that a year ago an inspection in this case did not reveal any violations, and the head of the village, by whose order an apartment was allocated, did not become a defendant in the criminal case.

In May, Zhdanov was re-qualified the article on abuse of office (part 1 of article 286 of the Criminal Code) to more serious articles on official forgery (article 292 of the Criminal Code) and fraud on an especially large scale (part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code). The investigation believes that Zhdanov issued a recommendation for mercenary purposes. According to Voronin, no evidence of “greed” was provided by the investigation.

Initially, Zhdanov Sr. was placed in SIZO-5 in the Rostov Region, but then transferred to SIZO-1 in the Arkhangelsk Region. There his health condition deteriorated.

In June, the Moscow City Court recognized the Anti-Corruption Foundation, the Foundation for the Protection of Citizens’ Rights and the headquarters of Alexei Navalny as extremist organizations. Former FBK director Ivan Zhdanov was put on the international wanted list.
