The United States has prepared a package of sanctions against Putin, a number of Russian military personnel and officials. It will also affect banks and the SWIFT system.

“The bill provides for the imposition of large-scale sanctions against senior Russian military and government officials, including Putin and other leaders, as well as key banking institutions, if Moscow starts military action against Ukraine,” – said the publication, which was in possession of the bill on sanctions.

According to the Washington Post, the sanctions will also target companies in Russia that offer secure messaging systems that banks use to exchange key information with other financial institutions, such as SWIFT.

Earlier on the new package of sanctions reported The New York Times newspaper citing sources. The publication noted that the Biden administration is preparing several scenarios at once: not only disconnecting financial institutions from the SWIFT system, but also technological sanctions against “Putin’s favorite industries” – aerospace and weapons.

In addition, residents of Russia may be left without phones, laptops, refrigerators, washing machines and other consumer electronics that were developed in the United States.
