Alexei Romashin, head of the Lefortovo pre-trial detention center in Moscow, has left his post. About it informs RTVI citing a source in the pre-trial detention center and two informed interlocutors in law enforcement agencies.
As the publication specifies, his resignation in December 2021 was accepted by the leadership of the Federal Penitentiary Service.
As head of Lefortovo, Romashkina will be temporarily replaced by Mikhail Svinolup, who previously worked in the FSB investigation department, where he was investigating cases of espionage and treason.
It is expected that the head of the Federal Penitentiary Service will subsequently appoint a new head of the detention center.
The new acting Lefortovo Svinolup is known in the case of the mother of many children, Svetlana Davydova, who was accused of high treason in early 2015. According to the investigation, in April 2014 she called the Ukrainian embassy and said that the servicemen of a neighboring military unit could have been sent to Donetsk. Davydova was arrested by decision of the Lefortovo court, after which a public campaign was launched in her support. Soon Davydova was released from the isolation ward, and the case against her was dropped.
“Svinolup is one of the most experienced officers of the FSB investigation department and one of the most intelligent. It was even pleasant to talk with him, despite the fact that we disagreed as opponents, ” quoted RBC lawyer Pavlov, who defended Davydova.
