Musician Vikram Ruzakhunov, detained in Kazakhstan, toldthat he incriminated himself so that he would be quickly deported to Bishkek. He also statedthat no one tortured him, and that he received bruises during his arrest.

According to the musician, on January 7 he was in a taxi (trying to get home), but on the way he was detained at a military post. Some of the inmates told him that if he incriminated himself, he would be deported to his homeland. This is exactly what he did.

Earlier, Kazakhstan complied with the demand of Kyrgyzstan and released the musician, who was accused of participating in the riots. On January 9, the Qazaqstan state channel released a video in which a beaten man detained on suspicion of rioting admits that he had come to Kazakhstan from Kyrgyzstan to participate in rallies. For this he was allegedly paid $ 200. The name of the detainee was not indicated, but the popular jazz musician Vikram Ruzakhunov was recognized in him.

This confirmed and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan. According to representatives of the department, on the eve of the New Year, Ruzakhunov was invited to Almaty to hold concerts, but after January 2 he stopped communicating.

Later, the state television channel of Kazakhstan deleted the video with Ruzakhunov.

The Ministry of Justice of Kyrgyzstan demanded from the General Prosecutor’s Office of the republic to initiate a criminal case of torture against the musician. The Ministry of Justice believes that the situation with Ruzakhunov may “be an indicator of a large-scale and / or systematic use of the practice of torture against foreign citizens in order to obtain an unsubstantiated confession of guilt in committing any crimes and allegedly participation in the events that took place in Kazakhstan in the first decade of January 2022. of the year”.
