“The activities of exchange offices of second-tier banks and authorized organizations are also temporarily suspended for the safety and security of exchange offices, as well as their employees and customers,” the institution said in a statement.
The National Bank also noted that “this will make it possible, as a matter of priority, to ensure the uninterrupted conduct of internal settlements of the population and business in national currency throughout the country.”
A few days ago, in the course of mass protests caused by the increase in fuel prices, all banks and other financial organizations were suspended in Kazakhstan.
The functioning of banks is terminated, “due to counter-terrorism operations by law enforcement agencies and temporary interruptions in the Internet, as well as to protect the health and life of employees of financial organizations and consumers of financial services,” said then the official representative of the National Bank of the Republic Olzhas Ramazanov.
