Part of pedestrian bridge collapsed on Nemiga in Minsk

Due to the collapse on Pobediteley Avenue above Nemiga Street, all types of transport, including public transport, are closed. In particular, we are talking about sections of the road from the street. City Val to st. Yanka Kupala and from Independence Avenue to st. Melnik. Traffic is also difficult along Lenin Street.

Additional traffic police patrols are on duty everywhere, fences and road signs prohibiting traffic are installed. The Emergencies Ministry is now working at the site of the collapse.

“We ask road users to take this information into account when choosing a route, be careful and observe traffic rules,” the traffic police said.

The reasons for what happened are being established. According to the preliminary version, the cause of the collapse of a part of the bridge was “structural fatigue” due to sudden temperature fluctuations.

“All structures of the overpass will be checked as quickly and thoroughly as possible. It is becoming clear who and when carried out an examination of the wear of structures and gave an opinion on their suitability for operation, ”explained Aleksandr Dorokhovich, Deputy Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee.

There are no casualties at the moment.
