Former chairman of the National Security Committee of Kazakhstan, Karim Massimov, was detained on charges of treason (part 1 of article 175 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan), transfers TASS.

January 6 President Tokayev changed the head of the National Security Committee of Kazakhstan Karim Massimov, having appointed Ermek Sagimbayev, the new chairman, who previously served as the head of the state security service.

Massimov was the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan twice in 2007-2012 and 2014-2016, as well as an assistant to Nursultan Nazarbayev (2003-2006).
