In the Belarusian city of Rechitsa, four close friends of a 27-year-old local resident Dmitry Uskhopov were detained, who was tortured to death at a police station on December 31. About it informs human rights organization “Polesskaya Vesna”.
According to human rights activists, Aleksey and Anna Davydkov, Alexander Snabkov and Ilya Brakarenko were expected at Uskhopov’s funeral, but they did not come and did not get in touch in the morning. Later, their relatives reported that they had been detained.
In addition, there is no connection with several other close friends of Uskhopov. It is currently unknown where they are.
About the death of Uskhopov became known January 2. The relatives of the deceased announced that he was tortured to death at the police station.
Uskhopov was detained by a patrol at a public transport stop on December 31 at about 23.00. As Polesskaya Viasna writes, he was intoxicated and resisted the arrest. Several hours later, he was brought from the ward to the local hospital unconscious. According to relatives, his clothes were torn, he was doused with water. He had a round wound on his left temple, and his wrists were blue. Dmitry Uskhopov died at the hospital.
The Investigative Committee of Belarus confirmed the use of physical force against Uskhopov by the security forces, but concluded that the death was not due to injuries.
