American Virginia Giuffre, who filed a rape lawsuit against British Prince Andrew, received $ 500,000 from controversial financier Jeffrey Epstein in 2009 in exchange for the absence of claims against him and “other potential defendants” associated with him. About it writes BBC with reference to the promulgated settlement agreement concluded between Epstein and Giuffre.
August 2021 American filed a civil lawsuit against Prince Andrew, the middle son of Queen Elizabeth II, claiming that over 20 years ago, when she was 17, he raped her.
In a 2019 interview with NBC News, Jufre revealed that she was a victim of sex trafficking when young girls were brought in to meet with wealthy clients. She sided with the prosecution against Jeffrey Epstein, who committed suicide in prison after being detained on charges of sexual assault and the involvement of minors in prostitution.
In the same interview, Giuffre stated that the billionaire forced her to have sex with several powerful men, including Prince Andrew.
The prince himself later stated that he did not enter into contact with Giuffre. He confirmed that he was friends with Epstein even after he was first accused of inducing prostitution of minors, and expressed no remorse for maintaining that friendship. The British media called this interview a “disaster”.
According to the BBC, Prince Andrew’s lawyers argue that the terms of the promulgated agreement between Epstein and Giuffre do not allow her to sue the Prince, since more than 10 years ago she agreed to end all legal claims against any person associated with Epstein that can named “potential accused.”
One of Prince Andrew’s lawyers said that Giuffre referred to “royalty” in a lawsuit she filed in 2009 against Epstein. According to the lawyer, this means that the terms of the deal apply to his client.
At the same time, Giuffre’s lawyers argue that the terms of the Florida agreement have nothing to do with her lawsuit against the prince, which alleges sexual abuse by members of the royal family, committed in New York, London and the US Virgin Islands.
The lawsuit against Epstein said that Giuffre was “lured into a world of sexual assault” at his Florida home when she was a teenager.
“In addition to being constantly exploited to satisfy any sexual whim of the accused [Эпштейна], [Джуффре] also had to be sexually exploited by his adult male peers, including members of the royal family, politicians, scientists, businessmen and others with professional or personal ties to him, ”the lawsuit emphasized.
However, this case never reached the court, as in November 2009 Epstein paid Giuffra $ 500 thousand for her to withdraw the lawsuit. Until now, this deal has been classified.
The disclosure of the agreement could serve as the basis for the dismissal of a sexual assault lawsuit against Prince Andrew.
