The bus crashed into a bridge support in the Ryazan region. Five people died, at least 16 were injured

In the Ryazan region, near the town of Skopin, a regular bus crashed into a bridge support. How informs Interfax, citing the Interior Ministry, killed five people, including the bus driver. At least 16 people were injured, including two children.

Three passengers are in intensive care. Their condition is assessed as serious. Doctors do not exclude that air transportation to the regional center may be necessary, TASS reports, citing sources.

In total, there were 49 passengers on the bus.

The photographs from the scene show that the blow was strong. The entire front of the bus was blown off right up to the front door.

The headquarters at the site of the emergency told the agency that the cause of the accident was severe ice. “According to the specified data, the driver lost control of the frozen road and made a collision with the support,” said the agency’s interlocutor. By data source RIA “Novosti”, the driver could fall asleep while driving.

Investigators are conducting a check, trying to establish the circumstances of the accident, according to a report on website TFR. The police of the Ryazan region on the fact of the accident opened a criminal case on violation of traffic rules.
