Senator from the Voronezh region Sergei Lukin fictitiously divorced his wife in order to hide his real income and continue to run the construction business. About it informs local newspaper “Vornadzor”.
According to the investigation, Lukin rewrote the business to his wife and children, who now own dozens of companies both in Russia and abroad.
As the publication specifies, since 1997 Sergei Lukin worked as the general director of the former house-building plant “DSK”. However, in 2001 he became a deputy of the regional Duma, in 2005 and 2010 he was re-elected, and in 2013 he became a senator from the Voronezh region. At the same time, having become a deputy of the Regional Duma, Lukin had to stop doing business. It is noteworthy that Lukin was a member of the Committee for the Construction Complex and made decisions and laws that related to the construction sector. At the same time, the deputy did not give up business. Instead, he transferred shares in his companies to relatives – his wife, son and granddaughter, as well as to dummies.
Lukin divorced his wife in 2013, this time she ceased to appear in his income tax returns. At the same time, according to the publication, the divorce was fictitious – former spouses often appear together at various events and even live together.
DSK and its subsidiaries are a monopoly on the construction market in the Voronezh region. In the last year alone, they received government contracts for 1.4 billion rubles, and over several years – for 18 billion.
In addition, since 2013, Lukin indicates in his declaration half of an apartment in Montenegro with an area of 30 square meters. The publication concludes that the senator needs this asset, since the owners of real estate in Montenegro and their family members can obtain a residence permit in the country. Lukin’s wife is also a co-owner of a hotel near Frankfurt Airport.
In general, the value of the assets of the Lukins’ family was estimated by the publication at more than 40 billion rubles. And the total family income is tens of times more than the 14 million rubles declared by the senator per year – only the net profit of Russian companies controlled by the senator in 2020 amounted to 750 million rubles.
