Taliban abolish election monitoring commissions and Ministry of Peace

[ad_1]

The Taliban abolished two ministries in Afghanistan – for parliamentary affairs and for peace. Also, the work of two commissions, which controlled the elections in the country, was abolished. According to the Associated Press, the Taliban said that departments and commissions “are not needed in the current situation.”

Earlier it was reported that the Ministry of Women’s Affairs was also abolished. In addition, the Taliban have banned playing music in cars and carrying women without a hijab, playing live music at weddings in Afghanistan is prohibited, and men and women must now celebrate in separate halls.

In Russia, the Taliban is listed as a terrorist movement, but the state media have been instructed to remove the corresponding markings in materials about the Taliban. Instead, when mentioning the Taliban, it is necessary to write a footnote – “The organization is under UN sanctions for terrorist activities.”

Formerly Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov statedthat the statements made by representatives of the Taliban during their talks in Moscow suggest that these are “sane people.” Russian President Vladimir Putin called for unblocking the money of the Taliban-controlled Afghanistan in European banks.
