Ramzan Kadyrov denied reports of mass abductions of people in Chechnya. According to him, these are rumors, they are “spread by European bloggers who openly support terrorism.”
“Some even wrote that over the past year, about 5 thousand people have gone missing. <...> Those who spread such rumors try in every possible way to slander us. We have repeatedly refuted their statements, “- stated Kadyrov during a press conference. He also, referring to data from law enforcement agencies, said that over the past three years there were 317 reports of missing persons in the republic. Of these, the whereabouts of 264 people have been established, – says the head of Chechnya.
Recall that over the past four days, six people statedthat their relatives and friends were abducted in Chechnya. They attribute this to their criticism of Kadyrov and Vladimir Putin. Some oppositionists managed to leave Russia, therefore, according to them, relatives are punished for criticism.
One of the claimants is Abubakar Yangulbaev, lawyer of the Committee Against Torture. According to him, he does not know about the whereabouts of about 40 of his relatives and friends. Bloggers Tumso Abdurakhmanov and Minkail Malizayev also announced the abductions. The latter said that his loved ones were kidnapped and tortured. He was sent nude photographs of his mother and wife. Investigator Hristo Grozev discovered that the telephone number from which one of the threatening messages was sent belongs to a 28-year-old officer of the Russian special forces SOBR, who reports personally to Kadyrov in Chechnya.
