The daughter of the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov, the minister of culture of the republic Aishat Kadyrova received a medal “For the protection of human rights” informs ChGTRK “Grozny”.
Kadyrova received the award on the recommendation of the Public Commission under the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights in Chechnya. She was awarded for her contribution to “the protection of constitutional rights and interests of citizens, the development of the social and cultural life of the Chechen Republic, the preservation and popularization of the cultural and historical heritage of the Chechen people, high professionalism, as well as services in strengthening interaction between civil society and the government.”
The same award was received by the Minister of Education and Science of Chechnya Khozh-Baudi Daaev “for many years of selfless activity on the path of the first president of the Chechen Republic, Akhmat-Khadzhi Kadyrov.”
The awarding ceremony was held against the background of reports of abductions by the security forces of relatives of Chechen public figures who criticized Kadyrov from abroad. Five oppositionists in two days told about the loss of loved ones. Some of those abducted were tortured. One of Kadyrov’s critics was sent nude photographs of his mother and wife.
Earlier this month, the Medal for the Defense of Human Rights handed over the Minister of Chechnya for National Policy, Foreign Relations, Press and Information Akhmed Dudaev, who previously headed the Chechen television and radio company Grozny. In April 2021, the US State Commission on International Religious Freedom recommended that the US authorities impose sanctions against Dudayev because of the “humiliating video confessions” that appear on local state television and in the accounts of officials. The commission also stated that Dudayev was responsible for severe violations of religious freedom in Chechnya.
In the republic, forcing a public apology put on stream and has long been a method of control over society. For Chechens, the concept of “honor” is extremely important, and humiliation due to an apology can be worse than death. Chechen security officials are in charge of forcing an apology. Those who refuse to apologize are often imprisoned, beaten and killed.
Aishat Kadyrova, 22, became minister in October. Before that, she is a year occupied the post of deputy minister of culture. In March 2020, Kadyrova received a medal “For Merit to the Chechen Republic” from her father for her contribution to the development of national culture and art. Aishat Kadyrova also heads the Firdaws fashion house, which was founded by the wife of the head of Chechnya, Medni Kadyrov.
In December 2021, another daughter of Kadyrov, Khadizhat, received the medal “For Services to the Chechen Republic”.
In the summer of 2020, Aishat Kadyrova was subject to US sanctions imposed on her father due to systematic human rights violations in Chechnya, including torture and extrajudicial executions.
