Court in Moscow imposed on Google a turnover fine of over 7.2 billion rubles for systematic failure to delete prohibited information. This was reported in the press service of the Tagansky District Court, one of the world sections of which made this decision.
“By the decision of the magistrate of the judicial district No. 422 of the Tagansky district of Moscow, Google LLC was found guilty of committing an administrative offense under Part 5 of Art. 13.41 Administrative Code and she was sentenced to an administrative fine in the amount of 7,221,916,235 rubles, ”the court said.
A turnover fine is a fine, the amount of which depends on the company’s revenue.

Despite the fact that the Russian authorities, complaining about the disobedience of Western social networks, appeal that they do not remove child pornography, suicide and drug propaganda, the number of such publications is very small compared to the protest content in court decisions. As noted by the BBC, only 12 references are devoted to suicide. Of the 469 links, for the failure of which the social networks were fined, more than 250 are devoted to actions in support of Alexei Navalny.
Social networks are also fined for jokes about power. As the BBC wrote, Roskomnadzor found posts in all social networks with “clear disrespect for the state, the constitution and the president of the Russian Federation.” On Twitter alone in the winter of 2020-2021, the regulator sent 75 notifications, demanding the removal of several of these posts.
In total, for 2020–2021, social networks (Meta, Google, Twitter, TikTok) were fined 156.6 million rubles for not deleting content and 47 million rubles for not storing personal data.
