In Belarus, the Minsk City Court sentenced blogger Eduard Palchis to 13 years in a maximum security colony on charges of inciting social hostility and discord, which entailed grave consequences (part 3 of Article 130 of the Criminal Code), organizing mass riots (part 1 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code), organizing a gross violation of order (part 1 of Article 342 of the Criminal Code) and calls for action against the national security of Belarus (part 3 of Article 361 of the Criminal Code). Palchis was arrested in Russia and extradited to Belarus in May 2016, where he was shown articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus on inciting racial, national or religious hatred, as well as the distribution of pornographic materials. At the end of October 2016, the Minsk City Court found the blogger guilty and sentenced him to 1 year and 9 months without being sent to an open institution.
At the end of October 2020, it became known that Palchis was arrested again. He was not released from the detention center at Akrestsin Street after 30 days of arrest. Later it became known that the blogger became a suspect in a criminal case, he was charged with organizing mass riots. While Palchis was in jail, his daughter was born. His wife with a newborn child was forced to leave Belarus.
Eduard Palchys is a social activist from Lida (Grodno region), political blogger, author of the Palchys telegram channel. On April 20, 2021, the Partizansky District Court of Minsk recognized the blogger’s telegram channel as extremist.
