Experts have identified factors that affect the production and maintenance of antibodies to COVID-19. In young men, the amount of antibodies in the body after an illness decreases faster. Scientists are inclined to believe that this is due to testosterone.

This was found out during the study by experts from the Military Medical Academy. S. M. Kirov and laboratory service “Helix”, transfers Kommersant. From June 1, 2020 to August 1, 2021, within the framework of the “Response” research project, scientists observed changes in the level of specific antibodies (IgG) in people who had suffered from COVID-19 of varying severity, including those in an asymptomatic form. In total, 1,421 people took part in the study – men and women aged 18 to 70 years.

Better and longer, the level of produced antibodies is kept in the elderly, while a severe course, increased body weight and a high percentage of lung damage have a positive effect on the immunity produced. In milder forms of the disease, the dynamics of antibody production also depends on gender. So, in women, there is an increase in the concentration of antibodies by the 180th day from the onset of the disease, and in men, especially in young people, on the contrary, starting from the 90th day there is a tendency to a decrease in the level of immunoglobulins. In individuals who have had moderate to severe COVID-19, gender does not affect antibody production.

The study authors concluded that young men with mild or asymptomatic COVID-19 should consider getting vaccinated six months after infection. In patients who have undergone moderate and severe coronavirus pneumonia, on the contrary, the chances of being infected again are less: after six months they can only limit themselves to control IgG testing.

World health organization expects an increase in the number of hospitalizations and deaths from the omicron coronavirus strain, the organization’s press service said.

All infected with omicron in Russia are in a satisfactory condition, reported Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko. According to him, most of them have already was immunity to coronavirus.

We will remind, on December 13, it became known that in the UK died at least one patient infected with the omicron strain of the coronavirus. This is the first time a patient has died with this strain.

In the center “Vector” statedthat the EpiVacCorona vaccine will be effective against omicron. Experts have repeatedly stated the ineffectiveness of this vaccine and accused its developers of falsifying the test results.
