Federation Council, whose members have repeatedly become involved in Navalny’s investigations, wants to classify Rosreestr data on real estate

Members of the Federation Council, who met on December 15 at a meeting in order to discuss the activities of Rosreestr, came forward for closing the data of the Unified State Register of Real Estate. The initiative was also supported by the head of Rosreestr Oleg Skufinsky.

“Now everyone can get information about everyone by paying the established means and even without notifying the copyright holder. And to use this information – such statistics, unfortunately, exist – to commit fraudulent transactions, “Skufinsky said.

Skufinsky and the Federation Council senators did not give examples of fraud using the FSIS USRN service. However, he is indeed popular – especially with journalists and the opposition investigating corruption in the Russian government. The Federation Council senators themselves have repeatedly become involved in such investigations.

In December 2018, the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK) of Alexei Navalny discoveredthat senator from the Krasnoyarsk Territory Andrei Klishas, who submitted a 15-day arrest law for “clear disrespect” to the authorities and officials on the Internet, owns undeclared offshore companies, plots of land in the Moscow region and Maybach for 12 million rubles. A little earlier, in 2014, FBK found a villa near Klishas near the Swiss city of Locarno and 1 thousand sq. m of land. The house has three levels and includes a parking and a swimming pool. It offers views of the mountains and Lake Maggiore. Then Klishas declared a Swiss plot of 400 sq. m less than it actually is.

In 2015 FBK discovered Senator Fetisov has three companies registered in Cyprus. The Foundation sent an appeal on this matter to law enforcement agencies, as well as to the Federation Council – the head of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko replied that “not everything is so simple”.

Also a repeated defendant in FBK investigations became Senator Dmitry Sablin. In 2015, Navalny published a material in which he pointed out the discrepancy between the senator’s annual income and the size of his real estate on Rublevka. The oppositionist also said that Sablin’s wife Alla is the niece of the former governor of the Moscow region Boris Gromov.

Earlier, officials in Rosreestr preferred to hide the elite real estate of officials – instead of specific names of the owners, the “Russian Federation” appeared in the “copyright holder” field. The latest FBK investigation, published December 2, 2021, was dedicated to just such objects. As reported in the video, the Foundation’s team has been ordering extracts for mansions, villas and expensive apartments for years, where the details of the owners were still indicated. After Rosreestr began to hide this information, FBK were able to quickly calculate all the objects, the owners of which were renamed “Russian Federation”.

As a reminder, on November 3, 2021, the government classified state purchases of Rosgvardia, FSO and the institutions and enterprises under their control. The order will come into force on January 1, 2022. These departments also became the objects of investigation by the team of Alexei Navalny.
