Formerly Sergey Ivanenko wrote a letter to the European Parliament in which he asked not to give the Sakharov Prize to FBK founder Alexei Navalny. According to him, Navalny has nothing to do with the Sakharov Prize. At the same time, society is not interested in the oppositionist, said Ivanenko in February 2021 – right after the January rallies in support of Navalny.
Also in July it was reported that Yabloko refused nominate Navalny’s comrades-in-arms – Oleg Stepanov and ex-defendant in the “Moscow case” Alexei Minyailo to the State Duma. And in October became knownthat the party, which gained 1.34% in the September elections to the State Duma, will deregister its members who support Navalny’s Smart Voting project.
In November, the bureau of the Moscow branch of the Yabloko party deregistered and deprived several hundred people of their membership cards. The decision on the large number of those expelled was taken by the party commission.
