Writer Leonid Yuzefovich received the Big Book Prize for his novel Filelene about the events in Russia at the beginning of the 19th century. Maya Kucherskaya took the second place. Viktor Remizov is in third place.
Yuzefovich is awarded the prize for the third time. In 2009, he received the Big Book Grand Prize for his novel Cranes and Dwarfs. In 2016 – for the novel Winter Road.
The philosophical and historical novel “Philhellene” tells the story of the staff captain, the invalid of the Patriotic War with Napoleon (1812) Grigoriy Mossepanov, who decides to take part in the war for the independence of Greece from the Ottoman Empire.
The Big Book is the second largest literary prize in the world. The prize for the first place is 3 million rubles, the second – 1.5 million rubles, the third – 1 million rubles.
