Tor main site blocked in Russia – service developers

The main Tor website has been blocked in Russia. About it report service developers on their blog. There are no official comments from Roskomnadzor yet.

Yesterday Roskomnadzor demanded from the network Tor remove “prohibited information” to avoid blocking. The warning said that Tor must remove “prohibited information” from pages, which tells about the project. What exactly is called the prohibited information was not specified.

“If the hosting provider or the owner of the site does not take measures to remove prohibited information on the Internet, a decision will be made to include the network address in the unified register, and access to it will be limited,” the letter said.

As a reminder, in early December it was reported that messages were received from Moscow and other Russian regions about the blocking of the Tor browser. According to the OONI project, which monitors Internet censorship around the world, on December 2, the Tor proxy server system partially stopped working in Russia. Portal appropriated Tor status is “probably blocked” in Russia. All connection attempts made by the resource were unsuccessful.
