The Sovetsky District Court of Ryazan detained until February 1 a former FSB officer accused of attempting to bribe on an especially large scale to employees of the RF IC, transfers Interfax with reference to the press service of the court.
According to the investigation, the accused transferred 6 million rubles to the intermediary. The money was intended to bribe officials of the regional department of the RF IC and the regional prosecutor’s office. Having bribed the officials, the ex-FSB officer hoped to extend the period for acquaintance of the accused with the materials of the criminal case, as well as to delay sending him to court for consideration on the merits.
An ex-FSB officer who acted in the interests of the defendant in the criminal case was charged with Part 3 of Art. 30, part 5 of Art. 291 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (attempted bribe-giving).
The defense of the accused asked not to take him into custody, since he is in a registered marriage, has a dependent on a minor child, was awarded military orders and medals for participating in special operations, including the release of hostages, and has no criminal record.
The accused himself did not deny his guilt and asked to choose a preventive measure in the form of house arrest or bail.
