The Moscow City Court overturned the verdict and sent the criminal case on the shooting in Moscow City in 2017 for a new trial. The verdict was handed down two former members of the “Scorpio” martial arts sports club, Magomed Ismailov and Eldar Khamidov, who were sentenced to 16 and 15 years in a maximum security penal colony, respectively.

On November 17, 2017, a shooting took place in Moscow City, as a result of which six people received gunshot wounds, including two employees of the FSUE Okhrana of the Russian Guard. Another victim died. It was reported that the conflict occurred over parking between the people of crime boss Dmitry Pavlov, who was celebrating his anniversary in the Oko tower, and billionaire Gabriel Yushvaev. Khamidov and Ismailov were his guards. On the fact of the shooting, a criminal case was opened under Art. 30 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (attempted murder) and Art. 213 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (hooliganism). November 22 Presnensky District Court of Moscow arrested Ismailova and Khamidova.
The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation took the investigation of the case from the Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee in Moscow at the stage of familiarization with the materials by the lawyers and defendants.
A criminal case of hooliganism was also initiated against two employees of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise “Okhrana” of the Russian Guard, Dmitry Yakobson and Kirill Titorenko, who participated in the shootout. The investigation found traces of shooting on their weapons. The case was separated into a separate proceeding.
Russian kickboxing champion Said Asadulaev was also charged with hooliganism with the use of weapons or objects used as weapons.
In February 2019, Interfax, citing an informed source, reported that a number of high-ranking investigators of the Main Investigative Department of the IC in Moscow, including the head of one of the branch departments, quit “On their own initiative” in connection with the investigation of this case. According to the source, “the quality of the investigation left much to be desired; during the course of the investigation, the composition of the accused changed, which cast doubt on the objectivity of the investigators.”
At the end of December 2020, the Basmanny District Court arrested the former investigator of the RF IC Levon Agadzhanyan on charges of falsifying evidence and prosecuting an innocent person in this case.
During the trial of the world champion in combat sambo Ismailov and Khamidov, singer Valery Meladze and Dmitry Pavlov were questioned among the prosecution witnesses.
