A court in Myanmar sentenced former head of government Aung San Suu Kyi, who was detained after a military coup, to four years in prison. About it informs CNN.
Suu Kyi was found guilty of inciting and violating antiquated restrictions. Aung San Suu Kyi received two years in prison on each count.
Earlier, former Myanmar President Vin Myin, who was ousted in a military coup, was also sentenced to four years in prison.
Aung San Suu Kyi was also charged with several other charges, the total sentence on which could be more than 100 years.
Since 2016, Suu Kyi has effectively headed the government of Myanmar as a state adviser. On February 1, 2021, she was detained. After the military coup in Myanmar, protests began against the military junta. Against their background, the new authorities have almost completely banned the Internet in the country.
