The CIAN database has changed the rules for publishing advertisements for renting and buying and selling real estate. The administration of the service prohibited expressing “direct or indirect discrimination” in publications and indicating preferences by race and nationality of the renter. This is reported on website and c Telegram channel real estate service.
“The description of the ad must not contain any form of preference based on race or ethnicity (including such characteristics as skin color, ethnic and national origin, nationality, citizenship and religion),” the message says.
The new rules are effective from December 1. The service offered to the authors of already published ads to make changes before February 1, 2022, after which CIAN will correct the text on its own.
The authors of the project expressed the hope that such rules will become “the industry standard in the field of real estate.” “We stand for equal opportunities for all CIAN users,” the service website says.
In November, the creator of the Flats for Friends community on Facebook, Martha Nekrasova, announced a change in the rules. Each post should contain a note: “Residents of all nationalities, origins, genders, ages, preferences in love are welcome.” If the advertiser does not want to post it, he can pay 499 rubles for publishing a “paid post for discriminators.”
Facebook removed the post of the founder of the group without explaining the reasons, but information about the innovation remained in the rules of the community.
Initially, the group was created for friends, and the concept has not changed, although 239 thousand people are already participating in the project. “Of course, there shouldn’t be any filters for friends, – explained Martha Nekrasova to Novaya Gazeta. – A friendly approach to the issue is to accept them as they are: young and old, with or without children, with or without animals, with guys and girls. And they, in turn, will be grateful and will treat the housing as their own, take care of it, take care of it and cherish it. If they ruin something, they will definitely fix it, wash it or buy a new one. For example, I always do this, and I will continue, even if I start living with anyone or lose Russian citizenship. “
According to research service for searching and renting real estate The Meters, 17% of real estate owners in Moscow and St. Petersburg are ready to rent it “only to the Slavs.” Also, difficulties in renting an apartment can arise if a potential tenant smokes, takes care of pets or is raising a child.
