Social networks of the Belarusian edition of Radio Liberty, including channels in Telegram and YouTube, are recognized as extremist in the country. This was reported on Friday by the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime and Corruption of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus.

“This decision was made by the court of the Central District of Minsk,” – quotes TASS Belarusian Ministry of Internal Affairs. The department recalled that the dissemination of information from these sources is punishable by law. Violators face fines or administrative arrest.

The Telegram channel Radio Liberty was the last of the major Belarusian media outlets that did not have an “extremist” status. “Thus, in a sense, the purge of the media field is over,” – it says in the message “Radio Liberty”.

The recognition of the social networks of Radio Liberty as extremist occurred the day after introduction The EU, Great Britain, Canada and the United States have sanctioned Belarusian companies, officials and employees of state television due to the migration crisis on the border with the European Union. In the EU, this crisis is called “hybrid aggression” by Lukashenka.

In a joint statement, the EU authorities demanded that Alexander Lukashenko stop organizing illegal migration across the EU borders and release almost 900 Belarusian political prisoners.

In Belarus, more than 300 Internet resources have already been recognized as extremist. For example, on November 3, the Ministry of Internal Affairs recognized the resources of the Belsat TV channel as extremist. And at the end of November on the “black list” made Belarusian-language media “Nasha Niva” and its social networks. This happened on the day of the 115th anniversary of the publication.
