The mayor of Kuzbass Prokopyevsk, Vyacheslav Starchenko, and the speaker of the city council, Natalya Burdina, were expelled from United Russia for a banquet during mourning for those killed at a mine in Kuzbass. About it reported RIA Novosti on Saturday, the secretary of the Kuzbass registrar of the party, Senator Alexei Sinitsyn.

Starchenko hosted a banquet to mark his appointment. The event became known from videos in “VKontakte”. Immediately after that, Starchenko was fired; he worked as the head of the city for one day.

“It is very difficult to find words to describe this situation. There are simply no such words, “- wrote the Governor of the Kemerovo Region Sergei Tsivilev in his Telegram channel.

Starchenko himself stated in an interview with REN TV that “there was no banquet”, it is not him on the video. “You’ve seen this video. I am not there, anyone can be registered, but I was not there, ”he said.

On November 25, at the Listvyazhnaya mine, methane was released in the morning, which led to an explosion and a fire. As a result of the incident, 51 people died, and several dozen were injured.
