The Parliament of Moldova decided to allocate money to pay off the debt to Gazprom in the amount of $ 75 million. informs Interfax with reference to the decision of the country’s parliament.

60 out of 101 members of the parliamentary majority of the Action and Solidarity Party voted for the decision on the allocation of money. Thus, the Moldovan parliament voted to amend the law on the state budget.

The Minister of Finance of Moldova Dmitry Budyansky explained that the money will be transferred to the state enterprise Energocom.

On the eve of the official representative of “Gazprom” said that the company, as an exception, agreed with the request of the Moldovan government not to stop gas supplies on November 24, but to provide a delay until Friday, November 26.

Previously became knownthat Moldova intends to reconsider the amount of debt for Russian gas. The country is interested in signing a long-term contract, like the previous one. So far, Chisinau and Moscow have not been able to come to a compromise on a new gas contract. At the end of September, Gazprom and Moldovagaz signed a document to extend the contract for the supply of gas to Moldovan consumers from October 1, 2021 for one month. It expires on November 24th.

The Russian side is ready to supply gas to Moldova at a market price with a 25% discount if the country pays a debt of over $ 700 million. The Moldovan authorities, in turn, claim that the price offered by Gazprom is higher than the market price in the region.

This week, the Moldovan company Energocom announced three tenders for the purchase of 4 million cubic meters of natural gas. Suppliers from Switzerland and Poland have won two of them, the third has yet to be announced.
