The US Department of Commerce has imposed export restrictions on the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. How reported on the official website of the department, the reason for the inclusion of MIPT in the sanctions list is called “the development of military products for a military customer.”
In addition to MIPT, sanctions will also affect 27 more legal entities and individuals from China, Japan, Pakistan and Singapore. All of them were accused of engaging in “activities that are contrary to the interests of national security or the foreign policy of the United States.”
“International trade should promote peace, prosperity and well-paid jobs, not security risks. Today’s decisions of the Department of Commerce should prevent the transfer of American technologies to China, Russia, and promote the development of Pakistan’s unsafe nuclear program, ”said head of department Gina Raimondo.
Recognition of a company as a “military end-user” means that US suppliers are required to request permission to sell equipment and technology to such companies.
